Wordless Wednesday- Teachable Moments

I am linking up with Mrs. DeCarbo at Sugar and Spice and I am so excited :)

I am still spring break-ing it up over here and sad that it's halfway over! This is a "teachable moment" where we brought in a dead butterfly (RIP little guy) we found during a fire drill! We put it under the ELMO to view on the smart board to look at all the insect parts. The kids loved it!

What are some of your favorite teachable moments you've had during your teaching career?

  1. What a cool experience for your kids -- not the whole dead butterfly part, but the close up view of the insect parts.

Off the top of my head, I can't think of a specific teachable moment (sort of brain fried after two days spent at the National Catholic Education Association conference in Pittsburgh), but I do know they always come when I least expect them!

    1. HAHA I know! That is really neat that there is a Catholic Education Association. I figured there was, but never thought of it I guess! I am Catholic so I always find it interesting when I find teachers that teach at Catholic schools :)

  2. The best moments are the unplanned moments. I have learned to go with the flow and take clues from my students. If it sparks their interest you can make it fit into your standards. This year my students are obsessed with the Who Is book series, so I took my entire back board and we are turning it into a giant timeline.
